Why this petition matters

Dear Chippawa and people of Niagara. They are at it again trying to re-zone Conservation areas in Chippawa to build townhouses or high-rise condos, whichever nets them the most profit. We need to protect our conservation areas and wildlife. These are conservation areas for a reason. This Ontario numbered company does not care about our earth/environment or our community...they only care about lining their pockets with more money.

I do understand the need for housing and re-zoning an industrial zoned area (the old golf course) does make sense to me, but a huge plan of subdivision doesn't seem to be enough for these people. They want it all including our conservation area. This is going in front of the city Monday January 10th. Many of us have not even received the notice of the "open House" and it has yet to be listed on the City website. Please let's try to stop them from putting townhouses in our conservation area. They have taken so much of our nature and now they want more just to line their pockets with more money at our environments expense.

The more letters we write and the more noise we make will help. Here is the email address to make your voice heard on this issue jhannah@niagarafalls.ca. The open house meeting is being held online January 10th, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

Imagine going for a kayak or canoe and not seeing any more ducks, or egrets, or blue herons, or beavers. The coyotes and deer and other animals have already been forced out by over developing our lands and now are running around in residential areas looking for food. This is Zone Conservation Open Space and a big part of the proposed change is right on the water. Please let's collectively block this crime against the environment.
