Karl C started this petition to Enterprise City Schools and

The Enterprise School System has prevented students from flying flags on their vehicles on ECS campuses specifically those that express a political viewpoint or opinion. They have prohibited the flying of these flags on the basis that they could potentially cause problems such as fights, vandalism, etc. This rule is stifling students freedom of expression and making them feel that they have no voice to express themselves.

Enterprise High School lays out “Seven Guiding Principles to Success” in their student handbook one of which and arguably one of the most important ones is courage and by flying these flags on their vehicles the students are exhibiting courage. They’re showing courage to express themselves something many students struggle to do, they’re showing courage to convey their beliefs in a peaceful manner knowing that some may disagree and judge them for these views, lastly they’re showing courage to not just stand up but rather be proud of what they believe in.

The majority of these students can’t vote but that shouldn’t stop them from having an opinion should it? The Enterprise City School System should not be discouraging these students from taking an interest in politics and peacefully conveying their views on politics. That’s not what our founding fathers had in mind they were very clear that all citizens should have certain rights one of those again being the freedom of expression which is currently being suppressed by the Enterprise City School System.

By signing this petition you are agreeing with the position that all flags should be allowed on student’s vehicles on campus with the exception of hate speech, profanity, or age inappropriate content.
