Sixth Form students at Westside School frequently use laptops and iPads during lessons to complete coursework, access Google Classroom, and work on assignments and general notes. The introduction of Yondr pouches restricts the ability to use phones as a connection point to these devices, making it difficult or impossible to complete essential work, especially as many students have spent significant amounts of money on their own devices and cannot use them without internet access. School iPads are not a full solution, as there aren’t enough for everyone, some don’t work properly, and most lack reliable wifi. 

We are not asking to use phones irresponsibly - this is about ensuring students can actually do their work. Locking phones away during lessons and study time hinders our ability to access online resources and manage independent study effectively.

We respectfully ask that the policy be changed to:

• Exempt Sixth Form students from the Yondr pouch system, or
• Provide reliable wifi so students can connect their devices and complete their work.
