Ensure Transparency and Fairness in CIHA and Related Programs

Ensure Transparency and Fairness in CIHA and Related Programs
The Issue
The need for transparency, ethical behavior, and accountability in all areas of the CIHA, NTS, and co-oping programs has become increasingly urgent. We are calling on our Association to establish a culture of open communication and transparency to address and resolve ongoing concerns, especially when it comes to tryouts, team selections, and the selection of coaches. The assurance of these practices is foundational to nurturing and developing the trust of our members.
Policies and procedures that govern our Association must be adhered to in an ethical manner. During critical periods such as tryouts, team selections, and hiring processes, it is essential that all members receive fair treatment, based solely on merit and capability, devoid of personal biases or favoritism. Ethical adherence to these policies will reinforce our commitment to integrity, essential for thriving and fair sports programs.
Furthermore, we must eliminate all forms of revenge and retribution that threaten the well-being and participation of all members in our community. Practices that intimidate or retaliate against coaches, players, or families have no place in our programs and undermine the core values of sportsmanship and teamwork. Honest and constructive feedback should be welcomed, rather than feared.
The role of Board members is critical in cultivating an ethical environment. We urge our Board members to act decisively and justly, embodying the principles of fairness, transparency, and impartiality. Decisions made should prioritize the interest of "all" members, setting aside personal affiliations or biases that could cloud judgment and decision-making.
By signing this petition, you will stand for ethical governance, fairness, and transparency within the CIHA, NTS, and co-oping programs. Your support could lead to meaningful processes that protect and uphold the values we hold dear. Let us come together to foster an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Sign now to initiate this important change for all members of our Association.
As a united group of concerned members, we are requesting a "Special Member Meeting" during the month of December per CIHA bylaw III.I.5. (Date, Time, and Location TBD).
Sincerely,
Concerned CIHA and NTS Hockey Members
