My son, along with many of his friends, attends a school where the current safety measures are severely lacking. Many parents, myself included, are deeply concerned about the fact that the school gates remain open throughout the day. This means anyone can easily access the school grounds and come alarmingly close to the classrooms. In today’s world, where the potential threat of incidents such as terrorist attacks is real, this lack of security is simply unacceptable.

We believe all children have the right to learn in a safe environment, where parents can feel confident that their kids are protected throughout the school day. As it stands, this is not the reality at our school, and it puts our children at a serious risk.

To address this issue, we urgently call for the implementation of strict safety measures. This includes installing secure, lockable gates that are monitored during school hours, implementing a sign-in system for all visitors, installing CCTV cameras at key points, and having trained security personnel to ensure safety and swiftly respond to potential threats.

These changes might require some investment, but they are necessary steps to ensure the safety of our children. Other schools in our area have already adopted similar measures with great success. Therefore, we know this is both realistic and achievable.
