Ensure Safe Removal of Stray Dogs from "Motiaz Royal Citi" Residential Society
The Issue
My residential society "Motiaz Royal Citi, Zirakpur" is facing a large and growing problem. Stray dogs, some of whom are rabies-infected, roam the grounds, posing a significant risk to humans and unprotected pets. Not only do these dogs often carry rabies, a fatal disease, but they have also been involved in numerous incidents where they have bitten elderly people and children in our society. The threat they pose is real and urgent - their removal is not just for our comfort, but for our safety.
Rabies is a viral disease that causes inflammation of the brain in humans and other mammals. The World Health Organization estimates that dogs are the main source of human rabies deaths, contributing up to 99% of all rabies transmissions to humans (World Health Organization, 2020).
In addition to this, India witnessed 20,847 deaths due to rabies between 2005 and 2015, meaning that approximately 1.75 people per 100 000 population are dying due to rabies each year (National Health Profile, 2016).
Given these stats and considering our personal experiences, it has become imperative to address this issue urgently. We need to find a safe and humane solution that protects our community. We urge the management of our residential society, and the local authorities, to take immediate measures for the safe removal of these stray dogs from "Motiaz Royal Citi, Village Singhpura, Zirakpur". This is not a matter of inconvenience, but one of public safety and well-being.
