Ensure Rights to Gender-Aligned Restrooms for Transgender & Gender-Nonconforming Citizens

The Issue

As a transgender male, I find myself struggling with gender dysphoria, intensified by the fact that I am not allowed to use male restrooms. I am not alone in this struggle - I share it with many transgender friends who are also forced to use restrooms that align with the sex they were assigned at birth, as well as with my gender nonconforming friends who have concerns about having to use strictly gendered restrooms.

We believe in the simple principle that every person should have the right to use a restroom that aligns with their gender identity, at schools, in public - everywhere. It's not just about comfort; it's about dignity, respect, and human rights.

Statistics show that 59% of transgender people in the U.S. have avoided public restrooms due to fear of confrontation or experience of harassment (2015 U.S. Transgender Survey). This denial of a basic human necessity is causing serious harm to our lives and wellbeing.

This petition aims to call for changes in schools and public institutions policies. It is a call to recognise and respect every individual's gender identity, and give them the right to choose and use the restroom that they are most comfortable with. Your signature is a step towards a more compassionate, inclusive society. We want to be acknowledged, we want to feel safe, and we want to live freely. Please sign this petition to support our fight.
