Addis Ababa University is one of the leading institutions in Ethiopia, known for its diverse student body and vibrant academic life. However, amidst this vision, a significant number of us feel marginalized due to our religious beliefs. Ethiopia is a nation that embraces a rich tapestry of cultures and religions. Our university should reflect this diversity by fostering an environment where all students feel respected and welcomed, irrespective of their faith.

Education is a right, and with it comes the freedom to express oneself and one's beliefs. The Ethiopian constitution upholds the freedom of religion, and it is imperative that our educational institutions mirror these legal and moral standards. It is essential for university authorities to take immediate action to ensure that students of all religious backgrounds have equitable access to all campus amenities and activities without discrimination or harassment.

One concrete step the university can take is to implement training and awareness programs for staff and students about religious rights and inclusion. Additionally, setting up a dedicated committee to address complaints related to religious discrimination and ensure accountability can significantly improve the situation.
