I am personally connected to the issue of Publix truck drivers not receiving full overtime benefits. These dedicated workers fall under the Motor Carrier Act of 1935, which provides an overtime exemption for employees who are within the authority of the Secretary of Transportation. This means that despite working long hours, often in challenging conditions, these drivers do not receive the same financial compensation as other workers. As of today Publix truck driver are capped at only 4 hours of over time benefits (time and a half) over 40 hours and is appreciated but not enough.

Publix is a major supermarket chain with over 1,200 locations and a significant fleet of trucks to transport goods. The company's success relies heavily on these truck drivers who ensure that each store is stocked with fresh produce and products every day. However, their hard work is not being adequately recognized or compensated due to this outdated legislation.

It's time we address this injustice and ensure fair over time pay for all Publix truck drivers. We call on Publix Super Markets Board of Directors to revise the overtime benefits that ensures full overtime benefits for truck drivers at Publix.
