Ensure Fair Distribution of Rides to All Uber Black Drivers in NYC

The Issue

As Uber Black drivers in New York City, we are facing an unprecedented challenge. Our livelihoods depend on the rides we receive from Uber, but recently, these have been dwindling. We've noticed a trend where Tesla Model Y vehicles are receiving the majority of ride requests, leaving us waiting for hours without work. This is not just happening to me; it's affecting all black car drivers who don't drive a Tesla.

Our cars cost over $100,000 and yet we're being sidelined by this new development. The situation has become so dire that our commercial insurance rates have skyrocketed - I personally pay $700 now when initially it was supposed to be only $350.

Uber is our primary source of income and this unfair distribution of rides is threatening our ability to make ends meet. We urge you to take action against this practice by ensuring fair distribution of rides among all Uber Black drivers regardless of their vehicle model.

We request that the city authorities investigate this issue and if necessary remove Tesla Model Y from the black car category until a fair solution can be found for all parties involved.

Your support could make a significant difference in our lives and help preserve the diversity and fairness within the NYC transportation industry. Please sign this petition urging action against unfair ride distribution practices at Uber in New York City.
