Ensure equal punishment for all, regardless of status

Ensure equal punishment for all, regardless of status
The Issue
Every news report I watch on TV highlights a glaring inequality in the Philippines—how easily poor individuals are incarcerated for minor crimes while the wealthy and corrupt politicians rarely face the same fate. Just the other day, I saw another story of a man who stole a little food because he couldn't afford to buy it, a situation all too common in our country.
In the Philippines, salaries are low, and many people struggle to make ends meet. This economic disparity often forces some into petty crimes just to survive. However, when these individuals are caught, they are swiftly punished and see the inside of a jail cell rather quickly. Why, then, when a corrupt politician embezzles public funds, do they escape accountability so easily? They steal from the country's coffers and face minimal consequences, if any.
This imbalance is blatantly unfair and must change. We demand a justice system where everyone is held accountable for their actions, irrespective of their social standing. Those in positions of power should not be immune to punishment simply because of their status or wealth.
We are not calling for harsher penalties, but equal ones. Corrupt politicians who rob our nation's people should face justice with the same urgency as anyone else.
By signing this petition, you stand for fairness and equality. You stand against corruption and social inequities that allow the rich to evade justice while the poor bear the penalties. Let's push for a justice system that is blind to status and ensures that everyone is held to the same standards. Please sign the petition and make your voice heard to bring about necessary reform in our justice system. We have waited long enough for justice to prevail for all. Sign now and let’s bring the much-needed change to our system.
