Ensure Each School in Mount Zion Has a Dedicated Resource Officer

The Issue

My wife works within the local school system, and I'm constantly concerned for her welfare along with the welfare of other teachers and all students. Many families within the Mount Zion (Carroll County, GA) community share this concern because our children's and teacher's safety is paramount. Currently, our local schools (elementary, middle, and high) share one resource officer across all three campuses. This arrangement spreads the officer's time and effort thin, which leaves a critical gap in security and immediate response capability.

Resource officers play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for both students and staff. They are not only law enforcement officers, but also mentors, first responders, and confidants for our children. With the national rise in school incidents, from bullying to more severe threats, it's imperative that our schools are equipped adequately to address these issues immediately and effectively.

A dedicated resource officer for each school would ensure that help is always available on-site, reducing response times in emergencies and providing a sense of security for students, educators, and families. The presence of  resource officers will also help deter potential threats while building trusting relationships within the school community while promoting a safe and positive school culture.

We call upon local authorities, the Carroll County School District, and all concerned stakeholders to allocate resources in order to prioritize appointing a dedicated resource officer for each school in Mount Zion, Georgia. Prioritizing this level of security is not just a precaution, but a necessary step to guarantee the well-being and peace of mind of everyone involved in our educational community.

Please support this critical initiative by signing this petition. Together, we can work toward a safer educational environment for our children and the staff who dedicate their lives to teaching them. Sign now and make a difference.
