I am deeply concerned about the exploitation of undocumented agriculture workers in the United States. Every day, they labor under grueling conditions, often without the necessary protections afforded to documented workers. They contribute significantly to our economy and food supply, yet their fundamental human rights are overlooked.

According to a study conducted by the National Agricultural Workers Survey (NAWS), approximately half of U.S. farmworkers are undocumented. These workers are frequently subjected to hazardous working conditions, minimal wages, and long working hours. In many cases, they are unable to report these injustices due to fear of deportation.

Respecting human rights, regardless of immigration status, should be a fundamental principle of any democracy. By granting basic rights to these workers, we not only uphold their dignity, but we also reaffirm our commitment to fairness and justice.

In the United States, a country built on immigrant labor, it is our duty to ensure all workers, documented or not, are treated with the respect and decency they deserve. Let us not allow the silence of these workers to be an excuse for their continued exploitation.
