Ensure Adequate Student Car Parks at Wellington High School

The issue

This petition stems from a personal concern: the excessive demand and insufficient supply of student parking spaces at Wellington High School. Despite paying a minimum of $30 a week, students are banned from parking even at the nearby Massey. It's an upsetting situation as street parking is prohibitively expensive, with a cost of minimum $18 a day for coupon parking or an outrageous $10 per hour.

More so, it is concerning that our school, which prides itself on promoting student independence, is not facilitating the same by providing necessary amenities. The lack of sufficient parking spaces is not insignificant; it directly affects students' ability to manage their time, attend their classes efficiently, and, conversely, restricts their independence.

Furthermore, students paying for parking services that are not delivered is an issue that needs immediate redressal. It should not be the students who bear the restricted mobility and financial strain due to the school's inadequate infrastructure.

It is a basic necessity that Wellington High School accommodates its students' transportation needs. Therefore, we urge the school's administrative authorities and councils to adequately address this oversight and ensure that sufficient parking spaces are allocated for student use. The issue might seem trivial but is affecting many lives every day. Join us in advocating for the rights of our student body to accessible and financially viable parking. Please, sign this petition.
