The Issue

The UK is witnessing more extreme and unpredictable weather, with more frequent heatwaves and colder winters each year. Unfortunately, our public buses often lack heating and air conditioning systems, making the situation even more challenging for both drivers and passengers. This issue is especially concerning in the scorching summer heat, where temperatures inside buses can soar to unbearable levels, reaching up to 50°C, posing a substantial risk to health and safety.

For years, operating companies have been subject to the same complaints, yet little to no improvement has been made. These conditions are not only uncomfortable but can be hazardous: excessive heat can lead to heat stroke, dehydration, and other heat-related illnesses, while inadequate heating can lead to serious discomfort during cold snaps.

It's time to demand immediate action. We call on the UK transport authorities and bus operators to invest in upgrading the air conditioning and heating systems in all their buses. This will ensure all passengers and drivers can travel comfortably and safely, regardless of the weather.

Reliable transport services are essential, and providing functional and effective air conditioning and heating systems is a basic requirement for a country as developed as the UK. Proper maintenance schedules should be implemented, and regular checks should be made mandatory to ensure these systems are working efficiently at all times.

Many of us rely on buses for daily commuting, and no one should have to worry about their health and safety due to poor temperature regulation on public transport. Implementing these changes will greatly enhance the overall experience for the millions of people who use and depend on bus services every day.

By signing this petition, you will be urging the relevant authorities and operators to take responsibility for their fleets, placing the well-being of passengers and drivers at the forefront. Support this cause to make our public transportation system safer and more comfortable for everyone, no matter the weather conditions. Please sign and help us make this necessary change happen.
