On April 29, 2024, Donte Kenney, a citizen of Blue Island, IL, was pulled over for a seat belt violation. Despite wearing his seat belt, the officer continued to detain him unnecessarily. The situation escalated when the officer became aggressive. Mr. Kenney drove away out of fear and felt violated due to his history with law enforcement; he suffers from PTSD after being shot by police before.

Every day, citizens of the United States are taught to follow the law. However, laws are often broken by both law enforcement and citizens alike. When those we look to for help and safety break laws themselves, it undermines public trust and sets poor examples for correct citizenship behavior.
