Ensure Aboriginal Healing Practices Are Available to Aboriginal Patients

Ensure Aboriginal Healing Practices Are Available to Aboriginal Patients
The Issue
Reconciliation is important if we want our future to prosper. For many Aboriginal people, traditional healing practices are an essential part of their cultural identity and well-being. Despite this, these practices are often overlooked and dismissed by mainstream healthcare settings. By integrating Aboriginal healing methods into the healthcare system, we can provide more holistic and culturally sensitive care for Aboriginal patients.
Traditional healing practices have been used for thousands of years and include methods such as herbal medicine, ceremonies, and spiritual guidance. These practices not only address physical ailments but also focus on mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Ensuring that Aboriginal patients have access to these options can lead to better health outcomes and foster a sense of respect and understanding between cultures. It’s a crucial step towards reconciliation.
This goal of ensuring Aboriginal Healing practices for Aboriginal patients reflects the 22nd call to action. The 94 calls to action were created with the purpose of recognizing and reconciling the horrors and wrong-doings committed against Indigenous Peoples, as a way to hopefully prevent history from repeating itself.
The main goal of this petition is to spread awareness about the 22nd call to action. With this petition we want to see permanent and effective change within the healthcare system. Our goal will be met once every hospital in Canada has committed to collaborate with indigenous healers and elders, through treatment plans, as well as area within said hospitals with the primary functionality of developing healing practices.
Sign this petition to help ensure a better Canada, one where aboriginal healing practices are integrated into the healthcare system.
