Ensure a Fair Trial for My Son and Allow Polygraph Evidence

Ensure a Fair Trial for My Son and Allow Polygraph Evidence
The Issue
My son's trial was marked by a troubling lack of veracity. During proceedings, the judge abruptly halted his testimony, convening a sidebar with attorneys - a critical moment conspicuously absent from the court transcript. His attorney ceased questioning at a crucial point which could have served to clear my son's name. Additionally, he had taken a polygraph test, the results of which were not admissible in court, despite the potential they held for absolving him.
Worse, there was no concrete evidence against him. Forcefully interpreted letters, misrepresenting his intentions, were used as damning evidence without allowing him the chance to clarify his statements. The culmination of these disappointing proceedings led to my son unjustly being sentenced to life.
The use of polygraph tests as admissible evidence is a contentious issue. According to a study by the American Psychological Association, while no test is 100% accurate, polygraph tests when used properly have a high accuracy rate (APA, 2004).
Therefore, our plea is twofold: firstly, to ensure my son’s trial is conducted fairly and transparently with a full exploration of all facts, and secondly, to allow the results of his polygraph test to be used in court in a bid to establish his innocence. I urge the court, the justice system, and the public to consider our appeal for fairness and truth. Please sign this petition to support our fight for justice.
