The Issue

My son races BMX, and I have seen firsthand the joy, discipline, and community spirit this incredible sport can bring to young people. Here in Eagle, Idaho, we have a shared love for BMX, but our local track is in dire need of improvements. Enhancing our BMX track will not only foster the skills and dreams of our youth but also strengthen the bonds within our community. As a parent and a member of this community, I believe that investing in our BMX track can bring significant benefits to Eagle.

Improving the BMX track will provide a safer, more competitive environment for our children to develop their skills. According to a study published by the Journal of Sport and Health Science, physical activities like BMX biking can significantly improve young people's physical health, cognitive abilities, and emotional well-being. A top-notch BMX track will motivate more children to participate, keeping them active and engaged, which is a critical factor in combating childhood obesity—a prevalent issue in Idaho, with over 25% of children reported as overweight or obese (CDC).

Moreover, a refurbished BMX track could serve as a venue for national and regional competitions, drawing enthusiasts from all over and significantly contributing to the local economy. This influx of visitors will increase revenue for local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, and shops, putting Eagle on the map as a premier destination for BMX events.

We propose a collaboration between local government authorities, community members, and the BMX association to develop a plan for the track's renovation. This might include resurfacing the track, enhancing safety features, and upgrading facilities. Funding could be sought through local government budgets, community fundraising events, and seeking support from business sponsors.

By signing this petition, you can directly support the revitalization of the Eagle BMX track, fostering a vibrant and healthy community atmosphere while positioning our town as a hub for BMX sport. Join me in urging local authorities to take action and invest in a brighter, healthier future for our children and our community. Please sign this petition to make a difference today!

My advice is to send in a proposal and funding need for the enhancement for the BMX track. The city has done a great job on this track and see it as a great asset to the citizens.
