We live in a time where school shootings have become tragically commonplace. According to the Center for Homeland Defense & Security, in the United States alone, there were 117 school shooting incidents with casualties in 2018. This number underscores the urgent need for stringent security protocols and better support systems to prevent such unthinkable incidents. This is not just a regional concern; this is a global issue.

This petition is personal to me because it addresses what I perceive could be an international threat. These incidents occur too frequently and the impact is profound and enduring. A recent tragedy unfolded at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, where an unthinkable act of violence claimed the lives of two students and two teachers. This incident serves as a chilling reminder of the need to upgrade our security systems in schools worldwide. 

We are calling on lawmakers, school administrators, and local communities worldwide to prioritize the safety of our children and education staff. We advocate for improved security measures such as security personnel training, advanced surveillance systems, zero-tolerance policies toward threats and anonymous reporting systems.
