Our children's safety is a fundamental priority. This is why we are calling on local authorities to ramp up road safety measures around Auriol Junior School. At present, this area lacks sufficient marked crossing zones and speed reduction measures, which jeopardizes the safety of our children on their way to and from school. Scope for a potential tragedy is palpable especially since school areas witness high vehicular activity during school hours. Studies have shown that areas around schools with adequate crossing zones and effective speed measures experienced significant decrease in pedestrian accidents (source: NHTSA report). Therefore, we implore our local council to install effective crossing zones or employ school crossing patrol and enforce stricter speed reduction measures around the school.
