Enhance Emergency Preparedness: Facilitate Two Cross-Trained EMT/Firefighters at Saunders Volunteer Fire Station

The Issue

My fellow citizens of the White House corner area of Huddleston, VA, our community's safety is a concern that lies close to my heart. The need for adequate and prompt Fire and EMS services is a pressing one that resonates with all of us. Today, I am sharing this plea with you to add two cross-trained EMT/Firefighters at the Saunders Volunteer Fire Station (Company 10).

Our brave firefighters risk their lives every day to keep our homes and businesses safe from catastrophe. Together with our Emergency Medical Technicians, who work tirelessly to save lives in the field, they are the unsung heroes who need our support now more than ever. I believe that working together, we can greatly improve our community's capability to respond to emergencies.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends having a minimum of four personnel on each engine to meet national safety guidelines. However, our Saunders Volunteer Fire Station (Company 10) currently lacks a sufficient number of staff to fully meet these guidelines. Adding two cross-trained personnel will significantly help to improve service delivery and ensure our community members' safety.

This is not merely an issue that we can choose to ignore; it's about the safety and wellbeing of our own community members, and the brave men and women in our Fire and EMS service. It's about valuing human lives and our community's ability to thrive with a sense of safety.

Join me in urging our local authorities to facilitate two cross-trained EMT/Firefighters at Saunders Volunteer Fire Station (Company 10). Please sign the petition, because the safety of our community is important to us all. Together, we can make a difference.
