RECOGNISE TOWER RECORDS PICCADILLY CIRCUS FLAGSHIP STORE AS HERITAGE LANDMARK

The Issue

Tower Records, the iconic store which played a key role in bringing music to the masses during the 80s and 90s, has been denied a request to honour the store's legacy with a blue plaque by English Heritage.

Tower Records opened its flagship store at 1 Piccadilly Circus, London in 1985. The store became a mecca for music fans across the country – it was the legendary Tower Records, where music really did matter. Tower Records was THE place for music lovers. It was where people discovered music and it gave a musical education to so many.

English Heritage, the organisation in charge of the UK’s famous blue plaques, has denied the request to recognise the site of Tower Records flagship store with an official Blue Plaque.

We can't let music die. Let's save the store's legacy and overturn this desicion!
