English Dub One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 for the Playstation 3 (audio options for sub fans)

The Issue

Namco Bandai has been ignoring what the English-language One Piece fans want, English dubbed One Piece merchandise. Specifically the English dub release of the One Piece Pirate Warriors video game for the Playstation 3. When Namco announced the game to be released in the US, New Zealand, and Australian fans were eager to hear some of their favorite characters in English for the very first time dubbed by Funimation! But several thousand fans were shocked to see that the game would only be subbed in English and download only through the Playstation Network. This was a total disappointment to the One Piece community. Even though it did not have English audio, most fans still got it anyway.

But now, One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 has been announced and it has been confirmed for a March 20th release for Japan, and a summer release for the United States and Europe, and Australia. However it was announced that one again that it would not have English audio and will be in Japanese with English subs. If Namco is able to dub every Naruto Storm game that comes out, there is no reason that they cannot release One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 dubbed by Funimation, who is in charge of the English release of One Piece.

One Piece for the last several years has been holding the top spot for most sold and popular manga/anime series. This is fact, not just out of opinion. Just take a look at manga sales; One Piece takes top spot while naruto takes 5th or 6th. And now, the One Piece manga now has over 300 million copies in print! This is the first manga in company history to do so, with the second most successful being Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball with 152 million copies printed. One Piece has even outranked the Dragon Ball series! One Piece is extremely popular in the US and well received by fans. If Namco can dub naruto games where the English dub lip-sync poorly matches words said, there is no doubt they could easily have Funimation dub the game.

I spoke with a Namco representative and was told if the game was requested enough it could happen.  With this petition, we can show Namco Bandai that we can make a difference and that we want this game dubbed! Lets show them that our say matters! And i know that some fans prefer subbed over dubbed, so there should at least be an audio option for the game, either Japanese or English.

If this game were to be released in English, it would open a gateway for future One Piece games! On average since the Funi dub began airing the weekly views for the series reaches nearly 1 million each week! It’s a mistake not to dub a series that outranks Dragon Ball, naruto and bleach. If this were to be dubbed it can cause other games like Romance Dawn 3DS (coming without a dub) & Unlimited World Red to be dubbed and released overseas! It can also promote funimation's dubbing as well as prove to be a financial success for namco!

So remember everyone! We can do this if we work together! Spread this petition online like wildfire and lets show Namco what the fans want!
