Enforce Year-Round Dog Leashing at Sand Bay Beach for Public Safety

Enforce Year-Round Dog Leashing at Sand Bay Beach for Public Safety
The Issue
I’m writing this petition with heartfelt urgency. My Jack Russell was viciously attacked by an unleashed dog at Sand Bay Beach, and for a moment, we were certain we had lost her. The attacking dog had managed to snatch my dog from me and braced her violently to the ground by her throat. This "dangerously out of control" dog was not heeding the owner's recall and should never have been off-leash, in accordance with Section 3 of The Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991.
I kindly urge you to imagine the fear we felt, and the fear many others may experience until changes are made. This terrifying incident showcases a grim problem plaguing our lovely Sand Bay Beach. It's time to address this to ensure the safety of our dogs, children, disabled individuals, the elderly, horse riders, and the wider public. It’s not just about the physical harm but also the trauma that lingers after such incidents. We've already had far too many dog attacks for the beach to continue being thought of as a safe haven to unwind for the public.
I petition for a simple yet powerful change to the current guidelines: Mandatory leashing of dogs on Sand Bay Beach all year round. This change could drastically decrease incidents of dog attacks and help restore the sense of safety and enjoyment for all beach visitors. Our communal beach should be a place of relaxation, not fear. Please, sign this petition and help enforce this leash rule at Sand Bay Beach to improve our community's safety and peace of mind.
