Enforce Strict Regulations on Noise Pollution in the Philippines

The Issue

As someone deeply affected by noise pollution, I am calling for immediate attention and action from the Philippine Government. Noise is a silent killer unknown to many. It causes major illnesses such as chronic stress, sleep deprivation, anxiety, depression, tinnitus, cognitive decline, male hypogonadism, hypertension and cardiovascular diseases. This is why the regulation of noise is of utmost importance.

Our residential areas are constantly bombarded with noise nuisance which has been worsening over time. Despite existing laws related to noise pollution under RA 386, RA 8749, PD 1152, 856, and the NPCC Memorandum Circular 002 series of 1980 that sets standard allowable noise levels in different zones during specific times of day or night; enforcement remains lax and penalties for violators are not stringent enough.

We urge our government to strictly enforce these laws and impose stiff penalties on all those who contribute to this growing problem - individuals or businesses alike. We also call for every law enforcer's commitment to stop immediately all who create unnecessary, unwanted noise.

Furthermore, businesses that produce high levels of noise should be mandated to regulate their sound emissions and soundproof their establishments where necessary.

By doing so we can protect not only our peace but also our health from the detrimental effects of excessive noise exposure. Please sign this petition if you believe in a quieter and healthier Philippines!
