I am a native of New Hampshire, born and raised in Littleton in 1959. Over the years, I've witnessed our town transform, evolving through both positive and negative changes. The beauty of Littleton has always been its peacefulness, a haven where families and neighbors can connect in tranquility amidst scenic surroundings.

Yet today, the serenity of our community is under siege. With the rise in modified vehicle exhausts on cars and motorcycles, the noise levels have become intolerable. This issue is not merely an inconvenience, but a disruption to our everyday life, affecting us during our work, rest, and leisure.

Littleton is known for its scenic beauty, walkable Main Street, and peaceful neighborhoods. That peace is increasingly shattered by illegally modified exhaust systems, intentional engine revving, and late-night vehicle noise.

This isn’t just a nuisance. For veterans and residents with PTSD, anxiety disorders, and sensory processing conditions, sudden loud noises can trigger panic attacks, flashbacks, and severe distress. Parents of young children, shift workers, seniors, and people recovering from illness are also heavily impacted.

We support car culture and local events, but not at the expense of our neighbors’ health. Help keep Littleton quiet, safe, and welcoming for everyone.

Littleton is renowned for its charming Main Street and picturesque neighborhoods, spaces that should be safe and serene. Unfortunately, the disregard for noise laws has led to an increase in disturbances, impeding our enjoyment of the peaceful environment we cherish.

We need effective enforcement of noise ordinances to safeguard our town's atmosphere and maintain its long-standing identity as a peaceful place to live. By addressing the noise pollution, we can protect the quality of life for residents and preserve the appeal of Littleton for visitors.

The Board of Selectmen, the Littleton Police Department, and New Hampshire State Representatives for Grafton County District 1 have the power to restore the peace by implementing stronger regulations and ensuring that existing laws are enforced without exception.

We call upon these authorities to take proactive steps. This may include increased patrolling, better monitoring mechanisms, and stiffer penalties for those who breach the noise ordinances.
