ENFORCE FACEBOOK META TO HAVE A LIVE COSTUMER SUPPORT SERVICES
The Issue

Dear Facebook/Meta Platform users,
I am making this Change.org campaign to shed light on a very serious and rapidly growing trend. Hackers. Yes, hackers are taking over many social media platforms but the main one that is targeted the most are Facebook/Meta Platforms.
I am writing to express my sincere concerns regarding the lack of proper sources and mechanisms that Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) currently possesses to address and recover hacked Facebook accounts. As an avid Facebook user and a concerned member of the online community, I believe it is crucial to shed light on this precarious situation and raise awareness and enforce Facebook/Meta to take their users more seriously.
Social media platforms have become an integral part of our lives, enabling us to connect with loved ones, access news and information, and engage in various online activities. However, this convenience comes with its share of risks, particularly with respect to security and privacy. Hacking incidents have increasingly become a significant threat, urging us to question the effectiveness of the platforms' measures to safeguard our personal information. Uploading photo IDs aren't enough. There should be a way to use your thumbprint to verify the account is yours along with many other ways.
The crux of the matter lies in Meta Platforms' failure to provide adequate sources and support systems to help users recover their hacked accounts swiftly and efficiently. Countless individuals fall victim to cybercriminals who exploit vulnerabilities within the platform's security infrastructure, leaving them helpless and vulnerable to potential harm. Despite reporting these incidents promptly, users often encounter undue delays, ambiguous responses, or no responses at all, exacerbating their distress and anxiety. From my personal experience, I was targeted and hacked on July 25th 2023, just 12 days after I lost my dad unexpectedly and 17 months after my mom and step-father were killed by an impaired driver. I have had my Facebook account since 2007. Almost 17 years worth of precious memories of my parents who passed away prematurely and a year apart. Most of my conversations with my parents and step-father as on Facebook Messenger. Pictures, videos, memories of us camping, taking trips and having family gatherings with all the grandchildren, just gone in a matter of minutes. I do have a few voice-mails from my dad, the last being on July 4th of him wishing me, my brother and his grandchildren a Happy Fourth. I replay it a lot just to hear the sound of his voice. It brings me a little comfort. I don't have anything like that from my mom or step-father. Our messages to each other were through Facebook Messenger. There's so many more people out there going through the exact same thing as I am and it's not right. As big and as successful Facebook/Meta Platforms are, no users of their social media platforms should ever have to lose their accounts due to hackers. Facebook/Meta Platforms have the means to provide 24/7 customer support, online chats with live agents and a toll-free number to speak with a real representative. All of our information is stored on their servers. We can provide proof of identity with are personal documents as well following a link sent to our email accounts to use a live face recognition program like Instagram allowed me to do. But Facebook is used more than just a platform to contact with friends and family, it's a way to make an income for yourself and your family. Some rely solely on this platform to earn a living by running their business and even put in money to run ads to attract customers to their site. This puts families at risk who cannot afford to lose out on their income related business connections. Users of this platform who make a living running their business on Facebook/Meta Platforms are at high risk of losing all of their hard work over many years to become successful only to lose it at the hands of a hacker. Facebook/Meta needs to be held accountable for the loss of income for a users business. We, as users, have to abide by their terms and conditions so they should have our backs when it comes to hackers taking over our accounts. It's identity theft, fraud and very much illegal for someone other than the user and users employees to have access to a platform that doesn't belong to them. So take action now by signing this petition and sharing it with others so we can stop hackers from taking over our personal and business accounts and forcing Facebook/Meta Platforms to implement faster ways to contact them directly to solve our issues immediately to avoid loss, damages and further mental and emotional pain caused by hackers.
Meta Platforms must take immediate action to rectify this perilous lacuna. The following suggestions could significantly enhance the platform's ability to address and retrieve compromised accounts:
1. Robust Account Recovery Mechanisms: Meta Platforms should invest in state-of-the-art technologies and protocols that expedite the account recovery process. Implementing multifactor authentication and establishing stringent identity verification procedures will bolster user confidence and strengthen the platform's security framework.
2. Enhanced Customer Support: A dedicated and responsive customer support team should be readily available to assist users in recovering hacked accounts. Timely and reliable communication channels, such as live chat or 24/7 helplines, must be established to mitigate distressing experiences faced by affected users.
3. Transparent Reporting and Accountability: Meta Platforms should provide regular and comprehensive reports regarding the number of hacked accounts, progress in resolving each case, and preventative measures undertaken. This transparency will foster trust among users and foster a sense of shared responsibility between the platform and its user base.
4. Collaborative Efforts with Law Enforcement: Meta Platforms should actively collaborate with law enforcement agencies to investigate and combat cybercriminal activities. Sharing relevant data and expertise will contribute to a safer online environment for all users.
By addressing these issues promptly, Meta Platforms can demonstrate its commitment to ensuring the security and privacy of its vast user community. The responsibility to safeguard user information and combat cyber threats must be recognized as an essential obligation rather than a discretionary initiative.
I strongly urge you, to sign this petition, to amplify these concerns and encourage further scrutiny of Meta Platforms' practices related to hacked account recovery. It is crucial to magnify the voices of affected users and highlight the urgent need for improvement within the online security landscape.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Your platform has the influence to make a real difference and contribute to a more secure and reliable digital space.
