Enforce consistency in the rule of our school
Enforce consistency in the rule of our school
The Issue
A personal encounter sparked the necessity of this petition, and it goes thus: a friend and I noticed a violation of school rules by a teacher – the teacher was using their cell phone during school hours, an act that is against the guidelines as provided in our school's Staff Handbook. Upon reporting this to the principal, our concerns were unfortunately disregarded, with the principal telling us to "mind our own business." Our principal further escalated this by calling for a meeting with my probation officer and instructing me not to report teachers for rule violations.
This is not an isolated incident, implying that certain figures in our school are now setting their own rules, a situation that is both distressing and in violation of the principles of fairness and accountability to which our institution must adhere. As per rule no. 3 on page 6 of the Leipsic Staff Handbook, it is explicit that the use of cell phones during school hours is strictly prohibited unless there is an emergency or it is during approved break times.
This blatant disregard of an established rule by those in power creates a culture of selective rule application that will be detrimental to the overall learning experience and moral growth of students. Our principal and superintendent should be champions of rules and not the violators.
By signing this petition, we are calling for a commitment from the school management to uphold, respect, and enforce all existing rules without prejudice. All parties, regardless of their role or position, must adhere to the school's regulations consistently and without exception. Our school should stand as a beacon of fairness, integrity, and equal treatment for all. Please sign this petition to support our efforts to enforce consistent rule application in our school.
