Enforce 8PM Curfew for Minors in Jersey City

Enforce 8PM Curfew for Minors in Jersey City
The Issue
My friends and I, who work in various businesses around Jersey City, especially in the Jackson Hill District, constantly encounter problems with teenagers who are out late and causing disruptions. These young individuals often exhibit disorderly and disrespectful behavior towards adults, particularly law enforcement and security personnel in public buildings, fast food restaurants, stores, and, most troubling of all, in Fast Food Resturants and on the New Jersey Transit bus & light rail systems.
Currently, there is a curfew policy in place that requires individuals under the age of 18 to be off the streets by 8PM. However, this curfew is not consistently enforced, which leaves both businesses and neighborhoods vulnerable to disturbances. Our community members, workers, and transit system deserve to feel safe, and consistent enforcement of the curfew will help achieve this.
We call upon the Jersey City authorities and law enforcement to rigorously enforce the 8PM curfew for anyone under the age of 18. Violations of this curfew should result in accountable actions, such as holding the parents responsible to ensure their children abide by the regulations. This action would send a strong message of accountability and responsibility, improving safety and civility across the city.
By supporting this petition, you are urging the city to protect businesses, neighborhood integrity, and the reliability of public transportation. All these areas are negatively impacted by the lack of curfew enforcement. Please lend your voice to help us ensure a safer community for everyone.
Sign the petition to advocate for the strict enforcement of the 8PM curfew for minors in Jersey City.
