Dear Supporters, Thank you all for your continuing support of our campaign. Since our last update, we are facing a new threat to the Green Belt in Enfield and we need your help, please! London Borough of Enfield [LBE] has started the process for a new Local Plan, which will guide development in the borough until 2032. This is the Council’s opportunity, among other things, to change the Green Belt boundaries to allow development in currently-protected areas. People can voice their opinions and concerns and we encourage all supporters of the Green Belt who live/ work or study in Enfield to complete the consultation which ends on 12th February 2016. The Council is presenting six options for growth: 1 - Do Nothing 2 - Intensify and Infill [Town Centres] 3 - Optimise Growth Corridors and Transport Hubs 4 – Develop Existing Green Belt Settlements 5 - Develop Industrial Land 6 - Reasonable Alternatives We are especially concerned about Option 4, which advocates building in brownfield sites within the Green Belt. ‘Brownfield’ is not clearly defined and we are concerned that Green Belt sites, including the Enfield Road fields, and Metropolitan Open Land sites may be under serious threat. Option 3 could also include some Green Belt around certain transport hubs. It is important to vote strongly against Option 4 – Develop Existing Green Belt Settlements. The complete document, which includes more background, the pros and cons of each option and a link to the consultation survey which you can complete online, can be found at: http://www.enfield.gov.uk/consultations (once this page opens, under the heading ‘Current Consultations’, you will find the link to ‘Local Plan Consultations’). Enfield RoadWatch’s own notes and opinions can be found on the Enfield RoadWatch website at: http://enfieldroadwatch.co.uk/ Click on Enfield Local Plan Consultation. So far, Fairview New Homes have not submitted a planning application but we will notify you when that happens and hope you will send in your objections. Thank you for your continued support Ian D’Souza Enfield RoadWatch Action Group
