Regulate Factory Farming and its Mistreatment of Animals

Regulate Factory Farming and its Mistreatment of Animals

The Issue

Industrial farming, which became popular in the mid 1900s, depends on toxic chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, and hundreds of thousands of animals to keep its business running. In the United States, 80% of the meat produced in the US is owned by four major meat industries, including Tyson, the world's second largest meat industry.

Tyson has been caught red-handed for torturing its animals, pumping its animals with growth chemicals that endanger both the animals and the consumer, and for using misleading labels to try to hide their cruel practices. And, as the US market shares 25% of Tyson's profits, the corruption in our government allows for these slips.

By signing this petition, you can  show that the people of the United States want stricter regulation on major factory farms like Tyson.

Through the use of this petition, we are demanding stricter regulation concerning the treatment of animals and the use of growth hormones in industrial farming factories. We can maintain a successful global economy while treating our livestock with respect and decent conditions; while sustainable farming is the overall goal, we want to start with these steps to improving factory farming.

Every animal in Industrial Farming should have access to an outside area that is approved to hold the appropriate amount of animals. Every animal should have access to its natural diet; end grain based feeding and promote diet regulations that offer the animal its appropriate diet of grass and plant based material. If a company is not prepared to offer these basic rights to its animals, it does not deserve to have the animals in its care.
