The Long Term Illness Scheme entitles people who are living with certain long term illnesses or disabilities to avail of drugs and appliances directly related to the treatment of their condition, free of charge. Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are not on the prescribed list of conditions, which has not changed since the 1970s.  We need this to change!! Both diseases are chronic debilitating long term illnesses, and require constant expensive medication, stoma care and regular GP and hospital visits, which in turn is causing undue financial hardship for sufferers. 

We are calling on the minister for health and HSE to add Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis to the long term illness scheme.
