End Weaponised Starvation in Africa's Armed Conflicts

The Issue

In countries like Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), starvation is no longer just a tragic byproduct of war - it has become a deliberate and systematic weapon. Civilians are bearing the brunt of this calculated violence, stripped of their basic right to food, their dignity, and their hope.

We cannot let this continue. This inhumane practice requires immediate, unified intervention to protect millions of at-risk lives and hold perpetrators accountable under international law.

The Solution:
On June 23, 2026, we are convening a collaborative stakeholder engagement meeting. The meeting aims to bring together representatives from:

  • ACHPR
  • African Union Commission
  • European Union Delegation
  • Civil Society Organisations and humanitarian actors
  • Human rights and international humanitarian law experts
  • Academic institutions and advocacy networks

With the aim to:

  • Adopt a resolution on ending weaponised starvation in Africa.
  • Secure immediate and safe food access for all civilians in conflict zones.
  • Enforce robust accountability measures for those who use starvation as a weapon of war.
  • Push for enduring policy changes that prioritise food security.

Take Action:

Add your voice to this critical initiative. Your signature helps build a unified force to dismantle this atrocity and uphold the fundamental human rights being violated in these regions.
