The Issue

In my 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, I have witnessed countless instances of violence and unfair treatment toward female healthcare workers. This is a pressing issue that needs urgent attention. Many of these incredible women who provide care and assistance to the most vulnerable are themselves subjected to harassment and physical, emotional or verbal abuse, often without any repercussions for the offenders.

According to a survey by the World Health Organization, nearly 38% of female healthcare workers have reported experiencing some form of violence at work. This statistic is not just a number; it represents real women who are risking their wellbeing every day to care for others. The majority of these cases go unreported due to fear of retaliation or the normalization of abuse in the workplace.

We cannot stand idly by as these brave women continue to face such adversities. It is time for healthcare facilities to implement strict policies and measures that ensure the safety and dignity of all their workers, especially the women who disproportionately bear the brunt of this violence. Providing a safe and supportive work environment is not just a responsibility of healthcare providers—it is a necessity.

Concrete actions include mandatory training for all employees about recognizing and reporting workplace violence, establishing a transparent system for reporting incidents, and offering sufficient psychological support services for affected individuals. Legislators must also step in to create laws that specifically protect healthcare workers from violence and discrimination.

Join me in calling on healthcare institutions and policymakers to take immediate and decisive action to protect our female healthcare workers. Your signature can help make a difference and bring this critical issue to the forefront of public attention. Let us champion the rights of those who care for us by ensuring they are respected, valued, and safe in their workplaces. Please sign this petition today.
