END Unpaid Job Assignments In Hiring Processes

The Issue

📢 If Companies Require Real Work, They Should Pay! 🚨

If an assignment mimics actual job tasks, it’s not a test, it’s work. And work deserves fair compensation.

🚨 The Problem
Too many companies demand unpaid assignments that take hours or even days to complete. These tasks often include:

🔹 Editing professional videos
🔹 Copywriting & content writing
🔹 Writing full content strategies or marketing plans
🔹 Developing branding and graphic design
🔹 Analyzing data and producing research reports

⚖️ Fair Compensation for Hiring Assignments
📌 If a company isn’t satisfied with a candidate’s portfolio or past work samples, they should:
✔️ Narrow down the final applicants' first
✔️ PAY for the assignment OR remove the requirement

💵 Suggested Minimum Rates for Job Assignments:
🔹 Video Editing Test? $600 for up to 30-second to 1-minute professional edit.
🔹 Copywriting? $300 per day
🔹 Marketing Strategy/Content Plan? $400 to $600 for a detailed strategy document.
🔹 Graphic Design? $300 to $500 for branding, mockups, or campaign visuals.
🔹 Data Journalism/Research? $400 to $700 for a comprehensive research analysis.
🔹 Other Specialized Work? Compensation should match the industry rate.

📢 What We Demand:
✅ Companies must pay for substantial assignments that mimic real work ($300 to $700 minimum per task) or remove them.
✅ Hiring tests should be short, structured, and disclosed upfront—not time-consuming and unpaid.
✅ Only shortlisted candidates should be asked to complete assignments, and their time must be compensated.

💬 What do you think?
Should we push for industry standards on paid hiring assignments or end them altogether?
