I, like many others, am an owner of a large breed dog. One can only imagine the terror experiencing what happened to their beloved, friendly family dog who had accidentally slipped out of an open gate at their home. Despite his friendly nature, their dog was mercilessly killed by our local police force. Frighteningly, even after being shot thrice, he was still wagging his tail at the man who was preparing to fire a fourth fatal bullet. This horrifying event unfolded despite their dog being previously deemed by those same authorities as 'a good dog'. 


Large breed dogs, like our XL bullies, are often misjudged based on their size and appearance. They've been unfairly stigmatized as inherently dangerous, propelling the unjustified fear reflected in these terrible events. It is essential to remember that dogs, regardless of their breed or size, are living beings deserving of fair treatment. They should not have to pay with their lives for simply being large and misunderstood.

We urge a reconsideration of police practices involving dogs, prioritizing non-lethal responses to situations involving dogs on the loose. We demand accountability from our local law enforcement concerning these devastating incidents and call on them to provide adequate training to handle situations involving dogs, particularly with larger breeds.
