I am a resident of Maddela, Quirino, Philippines. Every day as I walk around my town, I am confronted with a disturbing sight - walls stained red from betel nut juice. The smell is foul and the sight is unpleasing. This practice not only taints our beautiful town but also contributes to environmental pollution.

Betel nut chewing is a tradition for some; however, it has become an unsightly nuisance in our community. The juices spat out by chewers are staining public spaces and creating an unpleasant environment for everyone else.

Moreover, this habit poses significant health risks to both chewers and non-chewers alike. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), betel nut chewing can lead to oral cancer and other severe health conditions.

We must take action now to preserve the cleanliness of our town and protect public health. We call on local authorities in Maddela, Quirino to enforce stricter regulations on public betel nut chewing and spitting.
