End the Promotion of Sexuality Topics in Schools without Parental Consent

The Issue

As a deeply concerned parent, I am confronting a distressing trend in our education system. Our children's schools are becoming platforms for promoting various sexualities and asking inappropriate questions about gender that step over the line of standard academic curriculum. The importance of educational institutions' role in promoting knowledge cannot be overstated, and it is within this belief that sexuality and its related discussions should be under a family's purview based on their morals and beliefs, not the school's.

While it is estimated that around 1.6 million youth experience homelessness each year, 40% of them identify as LGBT, often driven out of their homes due to lack of acceptance (TrueColorsUnited). This merely proves the necessity of a supportive family environment for these discussions, rather than school environments.

It is also worrisome that some educators are infusing their personal political agendas into the classroom, which should be an unbiased and neutral space for learning. We are not against freedom of thought or expression, but the school environment is not the appropriate platform for these contentious and often polarizing subjects.

This petition calls for an end to such schools surveys on sexuality and gender, which serve to confuse the children more than enlightening them. It also urges making it unlawful for teachers to promote their personal positions in the school setting. Furthermore, we strongly suggest development of an opt-in, rather than opt-out mechanism for such contentious issues. Lastly, we invite schools to respect the diversity of cultural backgrounds and personal beliefs in a pluralistic society and refrain from promoting specific events like "Pride Month" without comprehensive parent-teacher consultations.

To protect the morals, values, and beliefs of all families, and to respect parental rights, we ask you to sign this petition. This is about the mental health and well-being of our children, in the spaces where they should feel safest - their schools.
