The Issue

Our district's recent decision to prohibit the use of phones in schools can have unintended negative impacts. Phones often serve as essential tools for students, allowing access to educational resources, staying organized with school assignments, and providing a communication line with parents or guardians. The Pew Research Center found that 95% of teens have access to a smartphone, and 45% are online on a near-constant basis – a clear indicator of our digital age. We, therefore, petition the School Board to repeal the ban on phones. Ensuring a responsible use policy could replace this prohibition, promoting digital citizenship among students. Please, let our voices be heard. Sign this petition today.
