End The Game Of Senior Assassin in High Schools
End The Game Of Senior Assassin in High Schools
The Issue
When I was a senior in high school, two of my classmates ran the game Senior Assassin.
The basis of the game is to shoot your targets with water and you need to be the last man standing to win.
This game has absolutely NO BENEFITS at all. It increases manipulative lying, paranoia, stress, anxiety, and fear. Nobody trusts anyone. Kids will go to extreme lengths to try to win. A few examples of this is waiting by people's front doors or hiding behind cars to shoot their targets. Although I was not participating in the game, I was followed on my way home just because my friend was in my car and in the game. Students find their targets' home addresses. Some kids were even being followed to their workplaces. One boy put a GPS tracker on a girl's car without her knowledge. My friend hid in someone's car while the target was inside. There have been several instances when the police got involved.
The only thing Senior Assassin actually does is create and breed stalkers and potential future killers. America is the country with the most school shootings and this game is a simulation. It's all fun and games when it's water, but my classmates have contemplated on what it would be like if the game was played with real guns and real bullets.
We are living in a country that it's easier to get a gun than proper medical care. 18-year-olds can legally get a gun. Salvador Ramos was the school shooter in Uvalde, Texas. Adam Lanza was 20 when he opened fire in Sandy Hook, Newtown, CT. This game teaches these people to be criminals. Allowing this game to be played any longer can create the next school shooter. We cannot let that happen.
If kids are not allowed to play dodgeball anymore, why are we allowing high school seniors to play this game?
