End the Exploitation of Irish Workers through the M50 Toll

End the Exploitation of Irish Workers through the M50 Toll
The Issue
As an everyday commuter who relies on the M50 toll bridge, I find it both frustrating and disheartening that we, the Irish workforce, are being exploited. Not only do people struggle to make ends meet due to the rising cost of living, but we are also burdened with excessive toll charges. Some of us have no option but to use the toll bridge, with each trip costing around €3.70, adding up to nearly €1,924 per year for those working 260 days. This perceived profiteering by the operators of the M50 toll bridge only manifests in threats of legal action and penalties for those unfortunate enough to miss a payment.
It's quite evident that the M50 toll bridge revenues have already, many times over, recuperated the investment costs. Motor taxes, paid faithfully by Irish motorists, should ideally cover infrastructure costs like these. However, what we witness is a clear case of double-dipping. This money could be better utilised elsewhere, aiding us in overcoming the current cost of living crisis.
The timing and need for this petition are more crucial than ever. By signing this petition, we present a collective demand: end the M50 toll exploitation now. It is about time that as Irish citizens, we stand up against such profit-driven practices and voice our concern over the relentless financial pressure. It's a battle to ensure that the money we spend every day will stay within our wallets and communities rather than filling the coffers of a big corporation. Let's band together to push for change. Please, sign and share this appeal.
