Over the past few years, the encouragement of generative AI in academia has been a growing issue.

Many students at The University of Salford are concerned with the normalisation of this technology. In some cases, generative AI is given to students as an option for concept art, designs, or even as a tool to create their tasks. For other courses, assessment examples given to them are AI generated. 

This should not be an option. AI is not art. AI is a formula.

This petition aims to put pressure on the university to remove GenAI as an option to replace work that can easily be done by hand. This will, in turn, give assurance to students that their work will not have the risk of being compared to AI generated works.
