End the Dog Meat Trade in China

End the Dog Meat Trade in China
The Issue
As a devoted animal lover, I am sickened and disgusted by the heartless and cruel suffering of dogs kidnapped and killed for the meat trade in China.
This harrowing industry subjects millions of dogs each year to unthinkable cruelty. An estimated 10 million dogs are killed annually for the dog meat trade in China. China’s notorious Yulin dog and cat meat “festival” begins on June 20th annually. Every year, thousands of stolen family pets and strays are packed tightly into overcrowded small, painful wire cages. Trembling in fear, they’re transported for days in the relentless summer heat without food or water. Those who survive the journey will be beaten and brutally slaughtered for their meat.
The ordeal these animals suffer is heartbreaking, from their capture to the brutal conditions they face in slaughterhouses.
This unethical practice not only results in the inhumane treatment and slaughter of dogs but also raises significant concerns about food safety and public health. By taking a stand against this industry, we can advocate for the humane treatment of all animals and work towards ending this cruel practice once and for all.
The trade is largely unregulated, leading to unsanitary conditions that can be breeding grounds for diseases. Recent studies have highlighted the potential for spreading rabies and other zoonotic diseases through the trade, posing a direct threat to human health.
There's a growing movement both within China and internationally to put an end to this trade. Several cities in China, including Shenzhen and Zhuhai, have already banned the consumption of dog meat. By calling on the Chinese government to implement a nationwide ban, we can align with these progressive steps and pave the way for improved animal welfare standards.
Sign this petition to urge the Chinese government to end the dog meat trade, protect animal rights, and contribute to a more humane society. Together, we can push for legislative change and raise awareness about this critical issue. Please lend your voice and support this cause by signing the petition.
