Hi, I am a concerned student at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, California, and I am deeply troubled by the recent establishment of the Club America club at our school. This club is associated with Turning Point USA, an organization known for its stances with promoting discriminatory beliefs.

Turning Point USA an organization backing Club America has a documented history of spreading anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments with racial discrimination and anti-Muslim beliefs. Many can   highlight the organization’s repeatedly targeting of racial minorities and immigrants. The establishment of a club at our diverse school that aligns with such principles is not only inappropriate but also harmful to the students and the  community.

Riverside is a richly diverse community that prides itself on inclusivity and acceptance. Our school, named in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., should be a beacon of equality and respect for all its students, regardless of their race, religion, and more!!!

It is crucial to ensure that our school remains a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, where bullying and discrimination based on race, religion, or sexuality are not tolerated. Allowing Club America to operate under the compromises our integrity as a school and puts our students at risk of being targeted! 

I urge the administration of Martin Luther King High School to take immediate action and disband the Club America club. We must prioritize the safety and inclusivity of all students! And it has to happen now!
