For years, Congress has debated versions of the Sunshine Protection Act and similar bills intended to end the disruptive biannual clock changes — yet none have passed, despite overwhelming public support across party lines and across the nation.

The American people are tired of waiting. Twice each year, millions of citizens are affected by unnecessary time changes that disrupt sleep, productivity, and safety. Congress has had ample opportunity to act and has repeatedly failed to do so.

We, the undersigned, call on the President of the United States to issue an Executive Order establishing a single, permanent national time standard — whether it be Standard Time or Daylight Saving Time. The choice of which standard to use is less important than ending the clock changes altogether.

It’s time to demonstrate leadership and bring stability to a simple issue that affects every American, every year. Pick one time and stick with it.
