For years, the Apple Cup has not only stood as a testament to the fierce rivalry between Washington State University (WSU) and the University of Washington (UW), but it has also served as a glaring reminder of UW's condescending and dismissive attitude towards its state counterpart, and its persistent political maneuvering aimed at hamstringing its in-state rival. The audacity of UW's decision to leave the Pac12 only solidifies their legacy of disregarding tradition and strategically acting to weaken WSU politically at every turn. Why should WSU continue to honor a game that, given UW's recent departure, has been stripped of its original competitive spirit and significance within the conference? It's high time WSU demands respect for the sanctity of competition and tradition. To keep the Apple Cup alive post-UW's exit would not only be spineless but would also afford UW an opportunity to further the political power imbalance they've leveraged since WSU's inception. Enough is enough. The University of Washington must face the consequences of its decisions.

As loyal WSU fans, our best recourse is to communicate the depth of our feelings: We must boycott any post Pac-12 Apple Cup games should they be scheduled.
