Our community has been deeply plagued by anti-social behaviour for far too long, largely perpetuated by a group of individuals who are already known to the local Guards. The persistent fighting, vandalism, violence and intimidation have led to a decline in the quality of life for many residents, leaving us feeling unsafe and unheard in our own homes and streets.

The area from The Ramparts to Market Square are no longer the safe places we once knew. Everyday this week alone fighting begins at Timmons hill and continues to The Bull. Violent altercations are a daily occurence. Last week a fight began at Bank of Ireland and continued for 40 minutes with not a Guard in sight. Broken glass and blood littered the streets for 2 days. Ambulances arrived to treat the injuries and the rest of the group continue to fight. They have burned cars, burned carparks, broken windows, harassed people out socialising.  The presence of this group has created an environment of fear and hostility. Families are reluctant to spend time outdoors, and local businesses are suffering due to the negative reputation that this behaviour has cast over our neighbourhood. The impact is not just social but also economic, as property values decrease and potential investors shy away.

It's clear that this issue demands immediate attention and action. These people clearly have mental health and addiction issues. While the people of Navan understand these issues we cannot allow this to continue. We urge the local authorities and community leaders to collaborate effectively to address these concerns. There is a pressing need for increased Garda patrols and community watch programs to deter such activities. Many of this group are known to Gardai yet the Gardai are unwilling to act to protect the people of Navan. 

We urgently request Guards to implement a complete ban preventing these people from entering the town centre.  Additionally, we suggest implementing community engagement initiatives to encourage positive interactions and provide alternative activities for youth who may feel disconnected or bored.

With proper intervention and resources, we can restore peace and harmony to our neighbourhood. Anti-social behaviour should not dictate the quality of life in our vibrant community. We must stand together and call upon our local government to take definitive action.
