End Student Harassment, Bias treatment at Our Lady Queen of the Missions School
The Issue
Students have personally experienced the impact of unfair academic assessments. Despite their hard work and dedication, grades were unjustly lowered due to personal biases held by a teacher. This unfair treatment is something that no student should undergo, yet it's an issue faced by many of us in our school.
We are calling on school administration to take immediate action to address several pressing concerns affecting students’ well-being and educational experience. Harassment, favoritism, inconsistent discipline, and the significant lack of mental health support are issues that cannot continue to be ignored. Our educational environment must be a place of safety and equality, where everyone is treated with fairness and respect.
Reports from students indicate that favoritism is undermining the integrity of our academic assessments. We are witnessing instances where personal biases overshadow merit, resulting in unfair grading and academic opportunities. This not only demoralizes students but also diminishes trust in our educational system.
Furthermore, harassment and unequal treatment contribute to a hostile environment where students feel unsafe and unsupported. Inconsistent discipline policies exacerbate this, as they create a lack of clarity about what is acceptable and what is not, leading to further anxiety and confusion among the student body.
Additionally, the insufficient mental health resources mean that students who need support have nowhere to turn. With increasing academic and social pressures, it is crucial that schools provide adequate mental health services to support students in need.
We urge the administration to implement transparent procedures for handling complaints, ensuring that each one is taken seriously and addressed promptly. Fair and unbiased academic assessments must be a priority, alongside clear and consistent discipline policies that uphold justice and equality. Every student deserves access to mental health resources that cater to their needs.
By signing this petition, you're advocating for a safe, supportive, and equitable educational environment, where all students can thrive without fear of bias, prejudice, or neglect. We must stand together to protect student dignity, well-being, and access to a fair education. Please sign this petition to demand the necessary changes for a better future in our schools.
