End Rottweiler Discrimination and Stereotyping

The Issue

I have experienced the pain of my loved Rottie being discriminated first-hand. Growing up with Rottweilers, I know them to be loyal, gentle, and affectionate. Recently, one of my Rottweilers passed away. I felt many emotions like sadness, because of her death and anger because I knew that she wasn't looked upon as just another dog by the world, she was looked at as a threat to life. It is time for all dogs to be treated equally, without judgment or stereotype. Right now, rottweilers are known as dangerous beings that seem like they want to kill everything they come in contact with, but this is NOT fact based. That label comes from very biased and judging opinions. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, there's no direct scientific evidence proving a correlation between breed and bites. Why then, must we label and segregate Rottweilers because of their breed? Our society needs to put an end to this discrimination and base treatments on a dog's individual behavior rather than its breed. Even if a dog is more aggressive than others, it’s still not the dog’s fault. If a dog is/was treated badly or trained for the wrong things, they are going to think it’s okay, since they weren’t corrected from that behavior. We need to acknowledge dogs as pets with varied temperaments, capable of love and loyalty, no matter their breed. Join me in advocating for the fair treatment of all dogs, without unjust labeling and stereotyping. Please send this to anyone and everyone you can! The more people that get notified about this the more people become aware of this everyday problem that seems invisible. Sign this petition today and let's make a difference. Together I truly believe that we can change people’s views on these dogs.
